July 2025 Highlights: SHG Formation, Tailoring Training, Vermicompost Production & FPO Expansion in Gadag – Deal Foundation

The activities and events conducted in the month of July by the Deal Foundation, which operates in 7 taluks of Gadag district, are as follows:

1) Details of the Formation of Self-Help Group for the Differently-Abled in Mundaragi Taluk, Gadag District:

1) Anjaneya Differently-Abled Self-Help Group, Gangapur, Taluk Mundaragi

1) Banashankari Devi Differently-Abled Self-Help Group, Sheelahatti, Taluk Shirahatti
2) Shri Grama Devate Differently-Abled Self-Help Group, Mooganur, Taluk Naragund

2) A board meeting of the Surakshita Differently-Abled Credit Co-operative Society in Mundaragi Taluk of Gadag District was conducted.
In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the development activities of the society. The district-level Surakshita Differently-Abled Credit Co-operative Society has been officially registered, and during this month, the President and Vice-President of the society were elected through a voting process. Additionally, efforts are being made to create awareness among members to newly enroll as shareholders in both taluk and district-level co-operative societies.

3) Board meetings were conducted for Parisara Samruddhi Farmer Producer Company Limited and Saraturo Integrated Horticulture Farmer Producer Company in Soratur, Gadag, and Shirahatti.
In the meeting, information was shared about agricultural tools, seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs available for farmers. The board discussed the need to increase the number of shareholder members and assigned responsibilities to the directors accordingly. It was also informed that Parisara Samruddhi Farmer Producer Company has obtained a license this month for the sale of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides. The board discussed that, with this license, the company can now expand its operations and sales activities.

4) The Deal Foundation operates in Gadag district and regularly conducts monthly meetings with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for persons with disabilities and women.
In these meetings, discussions are held on taking and repaying internal loans, applying for and receiving bank loans, and accessing various benefits available from other organizations. The meetings also emphasize the importance of utilizing both internal and bank loans to promote greater self-employment opportunities. Continuous efforts are made through these discussions to encourage members toward financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

5) At the district level, under the guidance of Deal Foundation, the registration of Gadag Shree Farmer Producer Organization has been completed.
Though it is a state-level entity, efforts are now being made across all taluks of Gadag district to identify members who cultivate millets. These members are being provided information on millet cultivation, marketing, processing, and value addition. The aim is to support farmers in enhancing their income through improved knowledge and practices related to millets.

6) Deal Foundation has taken up vermicompost production in its own garden.
The organization is producing vermicompost on its premises and applying it across a 3-acre garden. Additionally, the produced vermicompost is being sold during product exhibitions. Training on vermicompost production is also being provided to families of persons with disabilities and to self-help groups, with the aim of promoting sustainable farming practices and livelihood generation.

7) Deal Foundation has established a tailoring training center in Mevundi for women and families of persons with disabilities.
This tailoring unit has been functioning continuously for the past four years, providing skill development opportunities to help women gain livelihood skills. The Deal Foundation Mevundi Tailoring Unit regularly conducts classes, empowering participants to become self-reliant through stitching and garment-making training.

Upcoming Key Events for the Next Month:

  • Establishment of 1 new Self-Help Group consisting of 10 persons with disabilities.
  • Facilitation of financial inclusion and bank linkage for 10 SHGs.
  • Capacity building and livelihood training for 20 SHGs.
  • Continuation of tailoring training and garment-making services at Mevundi.
  • Ongoing work on vermicompost production.
  • Enrollment of 250 new members under Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) activities.
  • Collection of share capital and enrollment of new members under co-operative initiatives.
  • Awareness and group-wise training for 10 SHGs.
  • Continuation of activities at the Aarambha Self-Employment and Skill Development (ASK) Centre.
  • Launch of computer training for persons with disabilities.
  • Providing livelihood and skill training to a team of 7 members, along with marketing support through the Jeevan Katwa website for their products.
