Details of activities and events conducted by Deal Foundation in April across 7 taluks of Gadag district:
1 Details of the formation of Self-Help Groups for Persons with Disabilities and Women in the month of April are as follows:
In the month of April, a total of 1 Self-Help Group was formed in the Gadag, Mundargi, and Shirahatti taluks, with 10 members in total. Out of this, 1 Self-Help Group for Persons with Disabilities was formed with 10 disabled members. There were no Women’s Self-Help Groups established this month. The primary objective of this Self-Help Group is to empower persons with disabilities to become self-employed. The group is designed to help them secure bank loans for starting various businesses, including dairy farming, agriculture, goat and sheep farming, and other entrepreneurial ventures.

Gadag, Shirahatti, Gajendragad, Naragund, and Mundargi Taluks In the taluks of Gadag, Shirahatti, Gajendragad, Naragund, and Mundargi, a total of 1 Viklachethana Self-Help Group has been formed, with 10 members. There are no women’s self-help groups in these areas.To facilitate financial transactions, such as deposits, withdrawals, and accessing bank loan facilities, savings accounts were opened in the name of the group at Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank and Canara Bank. This will help the members manage their finances and avail financial support to promote self-employment opportunities.

2) In Gadag, Naragund, Shirahatti, and Mundargi Taluks:
In these regions, a Vikalachethana Self-Help Group was established with a total of 10 members. Alongside this, a Women’s Group of 10 members was formed. The following training programs were conducted for the differently-abled group members Disability Awareness Training, Financial Management Training, Leadership Training, Entrepreneurship Training,Sustainable Livelihood Training .These initiatives were aimed at empowering the members with necessary skills for financial independence and better living conditions.
1) Shree Daaneshwari Women’s Self-Help Group – Haripur Taluk, Shirahatti
2) Ambigara Chowdayya Differently-abled Self-Help Group – Magadi Taluk, Shirahatti
3) From Gadag Taluk, Mundargi Taluk, Shirahatti Taluk, Naragund, Gajendragad, and Ron Lakshmeshwar Taluks, a total of 3 Self-Help Groups have been formed, consisting of 1 differently-abled Self-Help Group and 2 women’s groups, with a total of 27 members who have availed loans from the bank.
4) A board meeting was conducted at the Secure Credit Cooperative Society in Mevundi village, Mundargi Taluk. During the meeting, the activities of the society were discussed. Additionally, at the district level, the GADAG Credit Cooperative Society has seen 12 new members join this month, bringing the total number of members to 440 so far.
5) A board meeting was held for the “Environment Prosperity Farmer Producer Company” in Mevundi Taluk, Mundargi, and “Sortour Integrated Horticulture Farmer Producer Company” in Sortour, Gadag Taluk, and Shirahatti. During the meeting, information was provided regarding agricultural activities and farming equipment available for the farmers. The discussion also included increasing the number of new members this year and providing the benefits and facilities available for the farmers. Additionally, the “Environment Prosperity Farmer Producer Company” launched the “Jeevan Kart” website, which will facilitate the purchase and sale of agricultural goods required by shareholder members and farmers.
6) The Deal Foundation operates in Gadag district across seven taluks, conducting monthly meetings for Women’s Self-Help Groups and Disabled Self-Help Groups. The activities of these meetings can be seen in the photos below.
7) Under the auspices of the Deal Foundation, the Gadag Shri Farmers Producers Organization was established this month with the participation of members from Gadag and Gajendragad taluks. The primary objective of this organization is to unite cereal grain farmers, helping them with market access and value addition. Additionally, it aims to improve the economic conditions of disabled individuals and women farmers.
8) The Deal Foundation is engaged in the preparation of vermicompost in its farm. The process includes producing the compost, applying it across three acres of land, and selling it at the exhibition. Additionally, training sessions are conducted for disabled families and self-help groups on how to produce vermicompost.
11) The Deal Foundation has started a tailoring training center in Mevundi for disabled families and women. This center has been operating continuously for the past four years, providing valuable skills and training in tailoring.
Next month’s event highlights:
- Establish 5 new Self-Help Groups (SHGs), including 50 differently-abled individuals.
- Provide financial inclusion and bank linkage to 10 SHGs.
- Conduct capacity building and livelihood training for 20 groups.
- Continue tailoring training and garment preparation services in Mevundi.
- Continue the preparation of earthworm manure.
- Enroll 250 new members for the Farmers Producer Organization (FPO).
- Distribute cooperative work and enroll new members for the cooperative.
- Conduct awareness training and group-specific training for 10 groups.
- Continue the activities of the Startup Self-Employment Center (ASK Center).
- Enroll 50 new members in the district-level differently-abled credit cooperative society.
- Prepare for audits of the Safeguard Differently-Abled Credit Cooperative Society and the Environmental Prosperity Farmers Producer Company.
