March 2025 Impact: DEAL Foundation’s Self-Help Groups, Financial Inclusion & Livelihood Development in Gadag

Details of the activities and events held in March by DEAL Foundation in the 7 taluks of Gadag district:

  1. In Gadag, Shirahatti, and Gajendragad, Naragund, Mundaragi taluks, a total of 3 disability groups with 30 members, and 1 women’s self-help group with 10 members, were formed. To facilitate financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and to avail bank loan facilities, savings accounts were opened in the names of the groups in Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank and Canara Bank.
  2. Prabhuswami Disability Self-Help Group, Kadakol Taluk, Shirahatti
  3. Shri Mallikarjuna Disability Self-Help Group, Hosahalli Taluk, Shirahatti
  4. Shri Daneshwari Women’s Self-Help Group, Haripur Taluk, Shirahatti
  5. Ambigar Choudayya Disability Self-Help Group, Magadi Taluk, Shirahatti.
  6. In Gadag, Naragund, Shirahatti, and Mundaragi Taluks, 2 Disability Self-Help Groups with a total of 20 members and 0 Women’s Group with 0 members received Disability Awareness Training, Financial Management Training, and Leadership Training. Entrepreneurship Training and Sustainable Livelihood Training were conducted for the members of the Disability Groups.

1.Prabhu Swami Disability Self-Help Group, Kadakol Taluk, Shirahatti.

2.Shri Mallikarjuna Disability Self-Help Group, Hosahalli Taluk, Shirahatti.

6.From Gadag Taluk, Mundargi Taluk, Shirahatti Taluk, Naragund, Gajendragad, and Ron Lakshmeshwar Taluks, a total of 4 self-help groups, i.e., 3 disability self-help groups and 1 women’s group, with a total of 40 members, have taken loans from the bank.

  1. A board meeting was held at the Safe Credit Cooperative Society in Mevundi village, Mundargi Taluk. The activities of the society were discussed in the meeting, and it was mentioned that the district-level Protection Credit Cooperative Society will be registered this month. All taluks of Gadag district, except Mundargi Taluk, will have 440 disabled members as part of this society.
  2. A board meeting was held for the Environmental Prosperity Farmers Producers Company, Mevundi Taluk, Mundargi, and the Sorthur Integrated Horticulture Farmers Producers Company, Sorthur Taluk/Gadag and Shirahatti. In the meeting, information was provided regarding agricultural activities, agricultural tools, and facilities available for farmers. The discussion focused on increasing the number of member enrollments this year and providing available benefits to farmers. Additionally, the Environmental Prosperity Farmers Producers Company launched the “Jeevan Kaat” website, which allows shareholder members and farmers to buy and sell the items needed for their farming activities.
  3. The DEAL Foundation is operating in Gadag district and conducts monthly meetings in women’s self-help groups and differently-abled self-help groups in seven taluks. The activities of these meetings can be seen in the following photos.
  4. The DEAL Foundation, at the district level, formed the Gadag Shri Farmers Producers Organization this month by bringing together members from Gadag and Gajendragad taluks. The main objective of this organization is to unite farmers growing cereals, enable them to access markets, and add value to their produce. Additionally, it aims to improve the financial conditions of differently-abled individuals and women farmers.
  5. The DEAL Foundation is involved in the preparation of vermicompost in the garden, spreading it over three acres of land, and selling the vermicompost at exhibitions. Additionally, training is provided to differently-abled families and self-help groups on the preparation of vermicompost.
  6. The DEAL Foundation has started a tailoring training center for differently-abled families and women in Mevundi, which has been operating continuously for the past four years.

Next month’s event highlights:

  • 5 new self-help groups (SHGs) will be established, including 50 differently-abled individuals.
  • Financial inclusion and connecting 10 SHGs with banks.
  • Capacity building and livelihood training for 20 groups.
  • Continuing the tailoring training and clothing preparation services in Mevundi.
  • Continuing the production of Erhul fertilizer.
  • Gathering 250 new members for the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO).
  • Collecting membership fees for cooperative work from new members.
  • Awareness training and group-wise training for 10 groups.
  • Continuing the activities of the “Aramba Self-Employment Center” (ASK Center).
  • Organizing a preparatory meeting for cooperative work registration across the district, excluding Mundargi.
