Details of the activities and events conducted in the month of May by the Deal Foundation organization operating in 7 taluks of Gadag district:
1) In the taluks of Gadag, Naragund, Shirahatti, and Mundaragi, awareness training, financial literacy training, leadership training, entrepreneurship training, and sustainable livelihood training were conducted for a total of 20 members from 2 self-help groups of persons with disabilities. No women’s group members were included in this session.
1) Banashankari Devi Self-Help Group of Persons with Disabilities, Sheelahatti, Taluk Shirahatti
2) Shree Grama Devate Self-Help Group of Persons with Disabilities, Muganur, Taluk Naragund
2) In the taluks of Gadag, Mundaragi, Shirahatti, Naragund, Gajendragad, Ron, and Lakshmeshwar, a total of 1 self-help group of persons with disabilities (11 members) and 0 women’s self-help groups (10 members) have availed loans from the bank.
3) In Mundaragi taluk, a board meeting was held at the Surakshita Credit Co-operative Society located in Mevundi village. The society’s activities were discussed during the meeting. Additionally, the District-level Surakshana Credit Co-operative Society is set to be registered this month. Except for Mundaragi taluk, persons with disabilities from all other taluks of Gadag district—totaling 448 members—have become members of this society.
4) A board meeting was held for the Parisara Samruddhi Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Mevundi Taluk, Mundargi, and Sortur Samagra Horticulture Farmer Producer Company, Sortur Taluk, Gadag and Shirahatti. During the meeting, information was provided about agricultural activities and agricultural tools available for farmers. Discussions were held on increasing the number of members this year and providing facilities to farmers. The Parisara Samruddhi Farmer Producer Company launched the Jeevan Cart website. In view of the onset of the monsoon rains, sales of fertilizers and other agricultural tools have begun. Shareholder members and farmers can buy and sell the items needed for their farming through this platform.
5) The Deal Foundation organization operates in Gadag district, conducting monthly meetings in women’s self-help groups and self-help groups of persons with disabilities across seven taluks. In these meetings, discussions are held on taking internal loans, repaying loans, applying for bank loans, and the benefits available from other organizations. Additionally, there are discussions on various self-employment opportunities that can be pursued using bank loans and internal loans.
6) On behalf of the Deal Foundation, at the district level, the Gadag Shri Farmer Producer Company was formed this month with members from Gadag and Gajendragad taluks. The main objective of this company is to unite farmers cultivating coarse cereals, provide them with market access and value addition, and improve the economic condition of persons with disabilities and women farmers.
7) Under the Deal Foundation, vermicompost fertilizer is produced, and this fertilizer is applied to three acres of land. Vermicompost fertilizer is also sold at exhibitions. Training on vermicompost production is provided to families of persons with disabilities as well as to self-help groups.
8) The Deal Foundation has started a tailoring training center in Mevundi for families of persons with disabilities and women. This tailoring training center has been running continuously for four years.
Upcoming Month’s Event Highlights:
- Establish 5 new self-help groups including 50 persons with disabilities.
- Provide financial inclusion and bank linkage for 10 SHGs.
- Conduct capacity building and livelihood training for 20 groups.
- Continue tailoring training and garment preparation services in Mevundi.
- Continue vermicompost fertilizer production work.
- Enroll 250 new members in the Farmer Producer Company (FPO) and collect subscriptions.
- Share cooperative activities and collect membership subscriptions from new members.
- Conduct awareness training and group-wise training for 10 groups.
- Continue activities of the Start-Up Self-Employment Center (ASK Center).
- Initiate computer training for persons with disabilities.
- Provide self-employment and skill training to a team of five and facilitate marketing of products via the Jeevan Cart website.
