It has been a very busy month as we prepare to scale up our work on creating sustainable livelihoods.

Thanks to the Swavlambhan Challenge Fund Award from Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), which has made this possible. DEAL Foundation Sustainable Livelihoods Project was one of twelve from a total of 300 selected nationally for the award.

As part of the scale-up, our goal is to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for 3000 persons with disability and 1000 women members across Gadag District by 2025.

This goal will be realized based on successful achievement of the following objectives:

  • Develop a district-wide network of seven Arambha Svaudyog Kendra (ASK Centres) across Gadag.
  • Establish a total of 1000 self-help-groups of persons with disability and women members with access to livelihood skills and entrepreneurship development training.
  • Establish three producer companies of persons with disability and women members.
  • Establish two Disabled Persons Cooperatives.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations and education institutions, government, non-government and private sector organizations to leverage resources, share knowledge and promote best practice.

Scale-up of the sustainable livelihoods programme activities is key to promoting inclusive & sustainable development.
