Creating sustainable rural livelihood opportunities for people with disabilities workshop. Press release.

A one day workshop on creating sustainable rural livelihood opportunities for households of people with disabilities across the district of Gadag is to take place on Thursday 21 November at:

Chamber of Commerce, Function Hall, APMC Road, Gadag 582101.

Time: 10:00 to 17:10 Hrs.

 

The workshop will bring together key speakers who are leaders in the field of disability, community organisation and development, integrated farming systems, entrepreneurship

and social enterprise development.

Dignitaries scheduled to attend the event include:

 Shri. M.G.Hiremath  Deputy Commissioner Gadag District; Shri  Basavaraju Disability Commissioner Govt. of Karnataka; Shri Vijay Sankeshwar Chairman & Managing Director VRL; Shri GopiKrishna Chairman Karnataka Vikas Gramin Bank Shri VenuGopal C.K. Head of department of horticulture University of Agricultural Sciences Dharward.

Mr. Nick Edwards,  Project Consultant World Health Organisation will be the special guest of honour at the workshop. 

The workshop will be of particular interest to: -VRW/MRWs, (Village and medical rehabilitation workers), Disability Practitioners, District and Taluk Officials,

NGOs. Senior Government Officials with responsibility for legislation. -Respective officials from across financial, business; educational; social & community

institutions 

.   

 

Speakers who are experts in their field will present evidence-based approaches taking into account the lived

experience of people with disabilities.

The workshop aims to provide insights, perspectives and discussion on models for inclusive development.

 The workshop will:

Examine the changing landscape of entrepreneurship and leadership development as it relates to people

with disabilities. 

Synthesize learning from best practice to enhance personal effectiveness and build individual and community resilience. 

Identify and highlight viable and sustainable rural livelihood options that can be used to promote economic independence and empowerment of people with

disabilities and their families across Gadag District.

 

The workshop has been organised by Disability Entrepreneurship And Leadership Foundation (DEAL Foundation) a not-for-profit non governmental organisation (NGO) situated at Mevundi in Mundergi Taluk in Gadag district and with its head office in Bengaluru.
